LEAD Program C/O 2023 Thread

So does anyone know that if you get denied a appointment directly to USAFA but accepted to USAFAPS that they send two separated letters? Like if you got a unaccepted letter to USAFA will you get a follow up acceptance letter to USAFAPS? Or will they only send you the acceptance letter to USAFAPS?

I have seen it where someone got accepted to the Prep School but immediatly after, was sent a letter stating that they were denied direct appointment. I would not worrry too much as you will likely hear from your commander first before a letter appears in you mailbox.

Cool, do you think it is enough to pass the CFA, more particularly the mile?

Yes, my knowledge is that they look less at the CFA for prior enlisted and look more at the letters of evaluation and interview, but if you haven't heard anything from them by now you should be good. although anything is possible with the current shut down since the admissions counselors are civilians you might find out once the govt is funded again.

I also went for a congressional nomination on top of my commanders nomination, do you think this will help my application at all? Some people said it doesn't help while others said yes it does. I went for the congressional nomination because it I figured it wouldn't hurt my application and at the least help it a bit.

Hey!

I am a prior enlisted, who is currently at the USAFA Prep School.

If you have any questions about the process or about anything USAFA related let me know!
Were you in a lot of leadership positions as an Airman? Did you receive any rewards? Also do you know anyone at the Prep School that got a low score on their ACT? If yes what was their score?

I did volunteer a lot, and tried to take lead on as many projects as I could. However these were usually small size. Managing teams of 5-10 people
Here is what I have from my old EPR tracker

Led Flight PT 20 people(5 September 17)

Led Flight PT 15 people (25 September 17

Volunteered at squadron pin on ceremony

5 people pinned ( ask what's his name when he pinned on)

MC 5 people were patched (28 September 17)

Volunteered at chief pin on ceremony

Escort chief wife (29 September 17)

A2D2 5 hours standby

SCHOOL:

3 credit Hours complete 28 Nov 17 (ENGL 1302)

3 credit Hours completed MICRO

3 credit Hours completed ENGL 1301

3 credit Hours completed GOV

Total completed: 12 Hours

Briefed joint partner on communication capabilities. 5 march

I did not receive a lot of award as an Airmen, the only one I have actually is Airmen of the quarter when I was deployed.

To your second question the lowest score I have heard is a 19. However this was from a recruited athlete whose dad is a coach at the academy so your mileage may vary. I was told as long as I get into the 20’s I would be fine.

This is where you can communicate with your admissions counselor and see where you can build your profile up more.

Thank you so much! My application looks similar to yours and the weakest point if definitely my ACT scores. It was good enough for me to get promoted to a candidate and mine is in the lower 20s. I'm in a lot of base wide leadership programs. I really want to get accepted to the prep school more than anything.

I was just informed today that I got accepted to USAFA Prep School!!!!

I submitted my application back in October and I am super excited to go!!
Congrats!!
My application finally was completed last month, so it'll be a while before I hear back.

Congratulations!
I am so happy to hear that, hopefully the rest of us enlisted hopefuls can join you in the Springs. I live about 10 minutes from USAFA, if you come out here on leave, I can show you around.

Happy to help!
Keep pushing and stay encouraged!
I found out in May of last year that I got accepted.

In the mean time take some basic ALG courses.
It will help you tremendously when you get here.

Congrats! I just completed my application last week so it'll be awhile before I hear back. You're the first enlisted I've heard of getting a appointment (both direct and prep) this year. I hope to follow your foot steps.

You found out in May? When did you submit your application? I feel like you have to rush out processing with only 2 months until you have to be at USAFAPS! I just submitted mine and having to wait till May will kill me!

January is the earliest I have ever seen an enlisted appointment come out. I would not expect anything until April/May. Anything earlier will hopefully be a pleasant surprise!

January is the earliest I have seen as well!
I finished my application at the end of January.
The wait till May was awful haha.
It is a very quick turn around for outprocessing but it’s not impossible.

I’m working with some people on PS side to make y’alls in processing is a lot easier than it was for us.

We are smoothing out the process a bit.

To be honest I am suprised I found out when I did, not complaining though; lol.

Now just have to wait till my order drop in a few months
