LEAD Program C/O 2023 Thread

Hey all! I updated the appointment thread so I'll update this. My commander called me on Tuesday night to let me know that I received an appointment to the Class of 2023 and today my portal updated so it's official. Also, for anyone who was worried, if you have the minimum scores posted on the Airman LEAD Program page, direct appointment is possible. I don't meet the maximum age, so here is proof that you can do it.
Congratulations! That's good to hear that you got a direct appointment even though you weren't of max age. That means there is still hope for me to get a direct appointment as well.

I am trying to reference the page, 4BravoX1 is much better at this than I am. It was part of the package published by CSAF I believe. It showed average GPA/ACT/SAT scores of Enlisted Airmen in order to be granted entrance to the Prep School or Direct.

Just found the guidance sent out by CSAF it was not in there, but I was able to find it in the most recent edition of the LEAD handbook. see attached for a screen shot of it. I highlighted the requirements for direct appointment, but I think their SAT scores are messed up because last time I checked a SAT score is not a two digit number.

Yea I don't think it is, either.. I never took the ACT, but that's what those scores look like to me..? SAT is a 1600 or 2400 scale, I believe..but then I took the old version, so idk how it changed.
No worries, though. thanks for looking into it! I had a 4.0 in HS as well as through my freshman year of college (haven't gone further than freshman year), so I THINK I'm good...lol but we won't know til we all hear, I suppose.

I'll see what I can dig up. The page I'm referring to looks similar to a slide with minimums and GPAs on it. I recall a blue background and a photo of the cap toss at graduation with a fly over. Sorry if that doesn't ring a bell. I'll find it.

I think I know what you are talking about. I am giving some workplace training right now and should be able to pull it up and post it in a little bit.

I found this, I'm pretty sure the scores are similar to the averages listed under eligibility. If you are below that but at or above the scores posted by 4BravoX1, then you would most likely qualify for Prep School.

Ah, thank you to you both! Looks like my SAT scores are about mid-range for both the math and verbal. This is good info! I guess I do recall seeing this at one point.

Interesting... I also met the minimums but got a prep appointment. I'll need to ask my ALO what's up.

How was your GPA?

3.5 GPA senior year, 3.8 freshman year of college

My strength in the application was really all my career achievement and community involvement. Guess the academy really does prioritize the academics.

I had a 3.67 HS GPA no college yet, but I did have good test scores from when I was in highschool. But otherwise my application is a lot of community involvement.

Who all did all of your letter or recs? Like what ranks, just curious?
The letters of evaluation were done by my supervisor a tech sergeant, my commander a LtCol, and an Lt I work with. The other two were done by one of the chaplains at my base, and a retired Lt Col who teaches at the test pilot school and is a USAFA grad.

I was the exact opposite. In security forces, there is not a lot of officers that get to know you personally. My commander who is a Major wrote one, my ops officer who is a captain wrote one, and my supervisor who is a staff wrote one. The other two were both done by MSgts whom I consider to be good leaders and mentors.

Nice bro my evaluation was done by commander lt col, supervisor SSgt, and old flight commander Major. My recommendations were done by my old commander lt col and a SMSgt
