LEAD Program C/O 2023 Thread

hey everyone... so this may be a Q more for AFSOC folks, not sure ... is anyone running into the issue where they only filled out their SF86 online (e-QIP) and so they do not have a similar looking form to the one posted on our portals?

also - does anyone know why we're even required to bring these since we already have our clearance? I have a letter from my base stating that he checked JPAS and I have my TS ... but my SF86 looks very different from the one posted on the portal. Think I should just bring this online version? It has all the same sections...but was not filled in by hand. So I was just gonna bring both this printed PDF one...and then the memo I have from my base...
advice??

I didn’t have that issue, the sf86 I gave to my recruiter before enlisting is the one uploaded on portal. I think they want us to bring it so it can be reuploaded, and so we remember what information we put down when we apply for an elevated clearance. I don’t think you will have a problem with printing an electronic version.

Getting excited!
Interesting...okay, I didn't give one to my recruiter initially... and I don't have to upload one to my portal.. guess I'll just wait and see. Thanks!

You'll just need an SF86, as long as the 13 categories that determine your eligibility for access to collateral information are present, and you've signed it, you're good! You have to bring them a copy for your investigation, and just as a heads up, be prepared to lose your TS. Just as a side note, if you have an SSBI and are read into SCI/SAPs, make sure you're debriefed by your SSO/SSR before leaving.

Awesome thank you! I've already been told my TS will continue...and I'm not read into SCI or anything, so I should be good there....thanks !!!

You technically keep it, but it will lapse while you are at the Academy.

Someone told me any extra leave days are automatically sold upon separation.. has anyone heard the same thing?
I heard that, that is why I am taking all of my leave because you sell it for the base pay rate not including any entitlements (BAH&BAS) additionally I was told you can only sell it once per career so I don't know how that effects us since we separate.

Hey it’s really important I caution you on this.

During the prep school year you’ll accrue 25 days of leave. HOWEVER, that leave is already budgeted in accordance with regular school breaks.

Additionally, between prep school graduation and I day for the actual academy there are 37 days.

So long story short, if you want to be paid for that month long period between the prep and hill, you need to go into the prep school with 37 days saved up.

Alternatively you can work details like I’m doing this summer but that’s up to you. I just thought it’s important I say something. I don’t recommend selling leave and I ESPECIALLY, don’t recommend spending it all before hand like I did.

Oh! You can also go with unpaid leave for that period. So I guess it depends on how much you like money.

Both @TheTallOne and I are direct entry so our leave does not transfer because we have a break in service while at USAFA.

Anyone else gettin a little nervous that the SGLI and VRED links are still not stampe "processed" on our portals?

Is it common to be backed up like this?

Got my orders today how is everyone else doing with order and out processing?
I'm going to the prep school but I just got my RIP and out processing checklist today. MPF has sent the orders to AFPC for final approval!!!!

How were you notified of your RIP? Also, did you have to do a "checklist" for your orders to be generated? My MPS told me to wait a week after the initial assignment notification to receive that checklist, but the vMPF checklist has been uploaded. Thank you!

I was sent an email from my MPF that they received my RIP and loaded a checklist. I did not have to complete a checklist before receiving my orders. My outbound assignment coordinator had me give him some paperwork and routed my orders for final approval the same day (I got orders the very next day).

I am also stationed overseas and have a DEROS ending in June 2019 (I have to leave the base in June). This classifies me as a mandatory mover and everything for me was expedited.

Is there anyone else who still waiting on a document to be received and processed and thus has not gotten their sqdn assignment or auth to travel?
Any ideas how to get around this in such a short time?? My counselor says there's nothing he can do.
@Capt MJ, advise?

I would call the Prep School directly if you're heading there. My counselor said that they were behind, and were processing them a few weeks ago.
