Leatherneck is not really a comparison to OCS. Leatherneck is a 4 week training program that is really more in line with what TBS is than OCS. USNA is trying to expose Mids to Marine life and also evaluate Mids for Marine Officer potential. It’s not hard to get into. It’s really just a summer training block that exposes Mids to land Nav, Marine life and MOSs, weapons handling, tactics and military movement, hikes, Etc. OCS is more like a boot camp environment in terms of intensity and activities. It’s not one and the same as OCS candidates get some liberty and are evaluated differently. They get lots of training in their ROTC programs too.
The evaluation should be... which program, USNA or MO ROTC is better for me? USNA is a 24 x 7 environment that is STEM based. ROTC MO doesn’t care about major and is not 24x 7. Which environment is best for you to thrive.
