I was wondering if I can or should use the same letter(s) of recommendation for different MOCs and the USNA application itself. Or do I need different individuals for USNA application and the MOC nomination application? Thanks in advance.

You can use the same letters. Eventually, it can get to be a lot if you don't.

You can use the same letters. Some applications require certain types of teachers, while others don't. Just make sure you are following those directions and you're good! When my stepson did his, he went to the teachers he planned to use and let them know he would need several recommendation letters. He asked them to supply 4 hard copies, sealed in an envelope with their signature on the back, and continued following up with them about submitting recommendations online for USNA and NROTC (some of these emails went to their spam folders, so is good to follow up!). Same thing with transcripts. Ended up needing to open some of these letters to scan for an online application, so was good to have extra copies.

No Letters of Recommendation are required for the USNA application. Your application will include an EVALUATION by your Junior Year math and english teachers. This is not a letter of recommendation -- your teachers are asked to evaluate you -- class performance and demeanor , leadership. academic aptitude.

Thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Oh, that really helps. Do you happen to know how that applies to a homeschooled student, my teachers being my parents?

To be honest..not sure, but would expect that the parent's would complete the evaluation. Of course, USNA would look at other factors to confirm what a parent says about their kids scholastic aptitude, e.g. ACT/SAT performance. Homeschooling is getting more common, and USNA is well versed in evaluating Home School candidates, so I am sure they will provide appropriated guidance.

To my understanding, candidates may submit additional letters of recommendation that are separate from their evaluations. I know this is the case for USMA, but how would one go about submitting letters for USNA? Should I email them to my local admissions rep?

There should be a part in your application that asks if you would like to have additional letters of recommendation and you can send in a maximum of five I believe but it is suggested you don't do more than three. Also, it is said to make sure that each letter of recommendation is able to speak to a different aspect of the person being recommended. You shouldn't need to send any emails to your admissions rep in order to have these letters of rec unless you have already submitted your application in which case I'm not sure if it would be worth it to even do it at that point
