One of my senators requires that you first send a letter requesting the application packet (as opposed to my other sources which have it available online.) I think I remember seeing a format for this somewhere but I cant find it now. Should I say anything besides my address, email, and the other basic info he asks for? Does this letter stay with my file? Thanks.

My senator asks for for something similar, and in the initial request letter we need to put our name, our phone number, our email address and the Service Academy we are our applying to. I also included a short statement about how much I wanted to go, and my ambitions within the army, but that wasn't necessary. Hope this helps!

I would make it short and simple, including all of the information the MOC requests. However, while there is no need to wax poetic about your love for the SA(s) in this letter, you do nee to be SURE to make it professional -- no typos, grammatical errors, etc.

And, be sure you spell the MOC's name correctly and put the right letter in the right envelope.

This is the first impression the MOC's office has of you. Make it a good one!:thumb:

Hi guys! I was reading through this, and I had some questions. This is quite late, but regarding the link mentioned above, is the given address the one we are supposed to use? The only thing we have to fill in is the person's name? And also, about the short sample request on the bottom, is that what we are supposed to write in order to request for the application packet? Or is it the actual nomination request letter that we are supposed to write?
Thanks!

You will find when requesting a nomination from a MOC...MOST simply want the information you see online: "CUT AND PASTE" from the examples, into WORD or whatever word processor you use...put your information in it, then put their information...

Place in envelope, put address/stamp on envelope, and send it on its merry way!

ONE THING though...check to see if your MOC wants all this done "online" instead of through the mails!

A LOT of MOC's are now going to an "all online" process.
