Letters of recommendation

DS is attempting to make sure his file is complete this weekend. One thing he can’t figure out is how to submit an LOR. We see where there is a doc upload area but his XC coach prefers to send it confidentially. The USAFA portal had an access code to give people, as did one of our senators. Does anyone know how to submit an LOR? If no one can help, DS will email admissions but we know he gets hundreds of emails a day so hoping to find the answer somewhere else.

I know that my DS sent LOR to USMA, USNA and USAFA thru their portal itself. Means, he submitted the name and email ID of the person who has agreed to write the LOR on the academies portal, then academies (USMA & USNA) sends the instructions directly to his email ID. USAFA creates a letter with unique ID and access code, that you give to your teacher/coach. I don't think that these academies (at-least three listed here) allows a candidate to submit the LOR.

I think you or your coach can.My DS received 4 envelops from the administration. You can give one of those envelope to your coach. Guys correct me if I’m wrong.

There is a place on the portal where the coaches, teachers, etc. upload the LoRs. They are officially invited by USMA through the portal electronically--when the portal is complete to the point where the LoRs are requested. The candidate enters the name, e-mail address, and title of the LoR writers. The electronic application system takes care of the rest. Your child should at no point see or handle the LoRs.

For the evaluators, yes, emails were sent directly but we were wondering about additional LoR, not subject evaluations. USAFA had optional LoR and created an access code. They also had the subject evaluations separate. I can't find on the portal where we can invite a coach to send an LoR. Can someone tell me where it is??

He received something about hmm 2 months ago maybe? He had barely started his application on the portal at the time. I honestly don’t remember what was in it. Let me ask him where it is and I’ll get back to you.

Both my DS received 4 self address and post mark envelopes in the mail around Aug or Sept. it was intended for extra recommendations, school transcript, I think.

Exactly the same here. DS received a letter explaining the process and 4 addresses, pre-paid envelopes. We are using 2 of them to send LOR.

Thanks. That would have been helpful to have received but DS never got it. He has completed the application and all LORs are in but it required the portal and email process and was slightly more involved for the teachers and coach. Thanks y'all.
