Hello All,
I recently spent four days visiting a college. I was very impressed with the life there, and have some desire to attend.
However, they only offer Liberal Arts degrees. If I were to get this Liberal Arts degree, would my application to OCS be frowned upon because it is not a STEM degree?
Please note that there is no ROTC unit at this college, but in the town where the college is located there is a National Guard Armory, so I also plan on looking into that area.

The US Marine Corps OCS program doesn't care if your 4 year degree is in microbiology or crayon manufacturing - just as long as it was a 4 year degree (from an accredited college). I think you have to have something like a 2.5 GPA too.

The other branches prefer STEM degrees for their OCS/OTS programs but are not exclusive.

As always, the best chance for an officer commission is through a Service Academy, then through ROTC. Whatever shortages the services have are made up through OCS/OTS.

The Marines are different in that they get around 70% of their officers through OCS, whereas the other branches are more like 10%.

You'll know your career field ln AF/Navy OTS/OCS prior to signing your contract. If not selected, not obligated.
