Likelihood of nomination with LOA?

Title. I received an LOA from USMA and I’m wondering what the opinion here is on whether or not it improves chances of receiving a nomination.

Probably. Maybe. IDK. But would make sense that it does.

However, they have their very own processes. It’s up to them to decide who they want to nominate. Last year, a candidate I corresponded with was in that very situation. Didn’t receive a nom from their MOC. BC they didn’t meet their GPA requirement. Despite having an LOA from USNA.

It’s a good thing to have, but not the appointment. Which is the goal obviously.

Print it out and attach it to your printed copy of your resume that you'll bring to your interview. They'll see it when they flip through it, but you don't have to directly mention it. Crush your interview regardless.

Worked for me a few years ago. Got two nominations and the appointment.

While an LOA is not a guarantee for a NOM, it can help. Be sure you share it with your MOC’s academy POC. It demonstrates to the NOM authority that the SA is very interested in you. Good luck!
