Limited number of appointments from a single nomination source

DS has two nominations. One from our MOC and one from ROCT. Here's the question. 9 students have received appointments from our state, two of which are from our congressional district that DS received his nomination. That being said, is it still possible for him to receive an appointment? I have searched several sites and articles for the answer to this and I am still not clear. Thanks in advance for the help

Is it possible...yes .. You have no way of knowing to what Nominating Source other appointments are charged to.
DS (and other candidates) are all still in the game until a TWE is received.
In the interest of making sure expectations are realistic, the chances do go down as appointments are awarded in your area, but I have seen reports here of up to 5 being admitted from the same school.

From what I have gleaned from these forums, the answer is YES it’s still possible, until TWE is received, it’s possible! What if some of the 9 don’t accept? Plus there is the NWL. And it’s been stated, that the assignment of nominations is like a big ‘ole puzzle in order to fill the class they way they want it filled. DS has received his appointment, and it was assigned to one of his nominating sources. But that can change up until the class is filled up. In other words, he may ultimately be charged to a whole different source and he many never actually know to whom he is charged. That’s how I understand it. But, regardless of all that, until he has the TWE, the answer is that yes he has a chance.

ALWAYS have a solid plan B,C AND D. DS still does despite accepting his appointment. Good luck!!

You do not say what state you are in but there have been more than 9 appointments in the Houston area alone and none of them have been directly related to an MOC slate as I can tell. There are not quotas on where candidates come from except the MOC slates.

Being from a district where all three MOC's have coordinated so that you only get one nomination, I've read all these threads on the national pool and am hoping USNA gets very creative in allocating the slots if we do not "win our slate" (i.e. the "juggling"). I know enough from reading on this forum that there is no certainty so I'm not asking, but I wonder if (historically) there's a time by which they actually make these national pool decisions. I've read here about a candidate getting an appointment days before I day, so I guess the TWE could (theoretically) come up to that point...

Pure speculation but an educated guess..... the National Pool is the last selected, after all MOC slates are filled. Even if you think your MOC have been done , keep in mind that Admissions has to do all MOC's , then start making the hard choices among whomever is left.
