That sounds cool!Antarctica (not a country, but it should count)
I suspect it is very cool. That sounds cool!
I want to know what Rear Admiral Byrd discovered there.I suspect it is very cool.
Didn't leave anything behind after a deployment there so I don't need to go back to get it. . . Plenty of memories, not many of which I want to revisit.Lebanon
It’s a shame what’s happened to Lebanon. And sadly our troops have suffered alongside the natives.Plenty of memories, not many of which I want to revisit.
It is physically beautiful. I cruised up and down the beaches of the city - or actually a couple hundred yards off of the beach in a small boat and it was quite tragic - the beauty along with shell holes, craters and wreckage. It’s a shame what’s happened to Lebanon. And sadly our troops have suffered alongside the natives.
At one time, Beirut was considered the Paris of the Middle East. Perhaps some hyperbole there, but nonetheless was once a cosmopolitan, sophisticated, vibrant place. (I picture its old self as the Arab version of Tel Aviv, where I’ve been.) I’ve read that the mountains and sea are wonderful. And I have a terrible weakness for all foods Middle Eastern.
When you go to Michigan, plan it around a football ball at University of Michigan. A game at the Big House is an experience not to be forgotten. If you do make that trip, hit me up and I'll suggest some of the best eating places I found while DS was there.I've been to the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Taiwan (OK. just the airport on the last one). This means DS and DW have already been to more countries than I, so their winning. I don't have a strong desire to go abroad but would certainly take advantage of any opportunity, especially if DS was assigned to some exotic locale.
I have been to 34 states, I would love to hit the last 16, especially since the tough ones (Alaska and Hawaii) are out of the way. I think a couple long road trips, to visit the big square ones, should do the job. Indiana and Michigan would finish off those east of the mighty Mississippi. Hmmmm.... maybe I should start making plans for a summer vacation?
