I think i posted this question in the wrong place so here it goes again

Here goes stupid question 1mil27---where can you find information concerning how many students in your state have received appointments and or to which SA? then --for parent support groups the one in NC is 2 hours away and I'm sure there may be parents closer that would want to get together or exchange emails ,addresses etc. Is this information allowable or listed or attainable and if so --Where!

Don't know of such a thing. Some MOC's do press releases with the kids they select for nominations. Others with names of all kids who ultimately receive appointments. Still many others nothing at all.

It would be cool to see. My son is a plebe at USNA. When I went for PPW, I was on my laptop in hotel room on Thursday night. I typically read my hometown newspaper, the Billings Montana Gazette online......and was surprised to find an obituary of a high school friend I hadn't kept up with. It listed her as having a son living in Annapolis. I checked on google and found a press release list of appointees from Wyoming that included her son.

A couple of months later I was contacted by a college friend from NM who I had not heard from since 1979. She updates me on her family. Yes, a son at USNA.

If you find some comprehensive list, many of us would like to see it! Personally, I want to know how many of my long lost friends have kids at USNA!

checked into the NC parents network and received an email from the new president---they will be receiving a list of all SA appointees and will be able to give that information out ( from those who approved I'm sure) so we can get in touch with each other locally. I guess if you google your state and USNA parents clubs ( or just SA clubs)you may find the same information to be true.

I found a website for the USNA parents club of southwest Ohio, unfortuneatly it hasn't been updated since 2007, so I'm guessing its not that active. I would love to get in contact with some local families from the class of 2014!

^^^^ Do you know any other families from your state with current Mids at USNA? If so, they should know how to contact the Parents Club of your state. If not, call USNA. At West Point, there is a Parents Club liaison through the Public Affairs Office. I'm sure USNA has one too. That Parent Club liaison can tell you how to get in touch with your state's Parents Club.

I felt the same way you do after DS got his appointment to USMA last year. There were 9 West Point appointees from our city and I thought that it would be a good idea for these kids to get to know each other before they left for Beast. I got the 9 names from our Parents Club president and sent e-mails to each. We met at a restaurant with their families. I also got a big cookie cake with the West Point emblem and also all of their names. They sat at a table together and the parents sat together. It was great! We have become good friends with many of the parents and have kept up with each other during this Plebe year. We also got together with the parents during Beast just to see how everyone was holding up. It was good to share with those who were experiencing the same emotions.
I would highly recommend you connecting with the appointees and their families before they leave. Your state's Parents Club should be willing to supply you with the contact info.
