What is the minimum and maximum number of colleges you can list on the arotc application? I have heard some people say you must list 7 and some say you don't need to so I'm not sure.

You only need to list one, but there is a catch. That one would have to be in your state and public, and there is no reason to list only one anyway, it limits your options. Yes 7 is the maximum, but anywhere in between works. When the application opens it will explain how it all works within the application, it will let you know how many public schools you need based on how many total schools you choose. And it won't let you submit unless at least one is in state. I do not remember the exact specifications and it can always change. Your in-state choice does not have to be public, and your public does not have to be in-state. For example, my daughter listed 4, 1. Out of state private, 2 out of state public, 3. Out of state public and 4. In state private. She was offered 1, 3, and 4. She ultimately chose number 4. The more you list the more public options you have to have. If awarded you will get 1-3 options, options are good.
