Living in Annapolis

I actually live in Annapolis (resident), would this help (or hurt) my chances of being admitted in any way? Any other way that it might be an advantage?

*Edit*- Would I need to get a family sponsor?

one disadvantage would be getting a nomination and the large competition involved in you state for the academy
