LOA, No Nom, Haven’t Heard Back

Hey everyone! I hope you all are having a great weekend!

I’ve had a Letter of Assurance for USNA since November. Unfortunately I did not receive a nomination for USNA, and it is my top choice. I have not heard back yet, and I’m anxious because, as everyone knows, tomorrow is the 15th of April!

So here are my questions: is it possible I won’t hear back until later than April 15th? And, is it possible I’ll be offered NAPS since I do not have a nomination?

At this rate, I’m preparing to reapply for next year — you know, lining up my options as May approaches. Any suggestions for the reapplication process? Thank you in advance!

Did you apply for a VP nom? If you did, then still a possibility. Hang in there. You could hear tomorrow or even later. None of us honestly know. Since you have an LOA, I would probably say NAPS is not on the table. But, as much as I say it’s not on the table... those of us who have been around awhile have seen crazier things. Still in the game until you hear something. If you get a TWE, read the reapplication sticky and reapplication info on the admissions website. Good luck.

Thank you! I did apply for a VP nom, but I heard it goes out in February/March, and that there are only one or two available. Are there other nomination opportunities?

There are 5 if I recall correctly. And none of us know when they go out. Admissions will move the pieces of the puzzle around 1000s of times. Who ends up with those 5 is usually a mystery, even to the recipients, unless they find out their nom source.

Actually, the VP has five over all four years just like the MOCs. Reportedly though, it is common for all ten NOMINATED by the VP to get admitted although only 1 or 2 are CHARGED to the VP.

Oh! I see, thank you for letting me know. When would these nominations most likely go out? And it is possible to hear back past the April 15th deadline, correct? Should I email my counselor if I do not hear back, or should I wait it out?

Thank you in advance.

You could hear anytime. Hopefully you hear today, if not, it’s wait and see until you get any answer.
