My daughter received a LOA in the beginning of October with the only outstanding factor being receiving a nomination. She received a congressional nomination at the end of November. She states that her portal reflects she has the LOA & the nomination. She has noticed that others have accepted their acceptance but she has not gotten anything as of yet.

Can anyone tell us what she needs to get to accept the appointment?

thanks!!

She needs to wait until the SA grants an appointment. It is just a matter of time for the SA to process everything. I am assuming DD has also been medically qualified by DoDMERB. Are there any other outstanding items listed on the LOA? Your DD may want to contact the SA after the staff gets back from holiday break.

Thanks 5Day....the only pending requirement was getting the nomination as everything else including DoDMERB was a go....

Just a matter of time then. I'm confident they are done in batches and not one or two at a time. At this point it's possible they might wait until late January when they usually do an "initial" batch of appointments for clear slate winners whose appointments have come in.

Newport. May I assume from your name and the timing of your DD receiving her Nomination that you are in CA/48? If so, does anyone know if admissions considers the number of appointees from a particular congressional district when appointing from the National pool? Your DD would be number two so far.

I'm actually in the same situation as your DD. I got an LOA and a nom, and both are checked off in my portal. I'm qualified in all necessary areas, and I turned in the required DoDMERB body fat determination test just a few weeks ago.

One problem I have, however, is that my portal still doesn't list my body fat determination test as completed. Is this the case for your DD as well? Or are all required LOA actions on her portal shown as completed?

The appointment will happen. As stated it's just time. Admissions is slammed with paperwork right now and it's also the holidays so folks are taking vacation like many of us do this time of year. She has completed the requirements spelled out in her LOA, it's just time now. My guess is she will see something in January.

For what it's worth, My DS was nominated from CA-48 in late Nov and was appointed USNA on 12/22.

My son is in the same boat, so to speak! Received LOA on 12/02 with only requirement being a nomination. Otherwise he is 3Q! Congressman nominated him on 12/22/16. Nothing in the portal yet. Just another thing to wait for I guess.... A whole lot of hurry up and wait in the process! DS doesn't seem fazed, just the parents!

I was in in same boat - LOA and nomination. I got a call from my congressman (CA-49) yesterday who informed me of my appointment. He also mentioned that I will be emailed within the next week by admissions. If the appointments are done in batches, that would lead me to believe that yours will also come shortly. One of my friends at the Academy told me that everyone (including admissions) is back from the break by January 5, so I would call at that time if you still aren't notified.

Please everyone, take a deep breath. It typically takes USNA a couple of weeks to process the appointment. At that time, they give the MOC about a week to contact the candidate and congratulate him/her. Then they notify you.

Remember that USNA Admissions, just like the rest of the world, takes time off at the end of December/early January. And they may have waited until this week to contact the MOCs, who also probably took time off over the holidays.

I suggest giving the process at least another week and then consider a polite email to your RD.

Don't swarm admissions on Jan 5th. Admissions doesn't necessarily follow the USNA Midshipmen leave cadence, but many do take time off during the holidays. What seaninsc experienced is very normal. USNA normally allows the MOCs somewhere in the 3-5 day category to notify constituents of an appointment before updating portals. Remember, not all MOCs will make this call, but many will. Everyone relax, the appointment will come. Everyone calling doesn't help anything. Take a deep breathe and go have some fun.
