Received the great news of a conditional LOA this morning. The email the academy sent me said that I could find the conditions of my LOA on the portal but I could not find it anywhere. The application shows the image below:

Hey! Congrats on the LOA. I received mine a few weeks ago, you'll receive a letter in the mail stating what you need to complete to receive an appointment. Also, do everything that you don't have done in the "my progress" tab.

Thanks and congrats to you too! I'll keep an eye out for that letter. Could I ask where you're from?

Conratulations.
You need to get whatever done that isn't done already, in your application.

LOAs typically are conditional upon receiving a nomination, but can hinge on DoDMERB acceptance (medically qualified) or a waiver for some DQ condition.

The best way to get ready for I-Day is run. Run at least 5 days per week and vary your training.

Congrats!!!! I look everyday, Could I trouble you to share your SAT and ACT scores, maybe gpa and home state?
Thank You

Congrats. For those of you looking for score comparison - from talking with my DS it seems there is a range. Think of admissions (and this is for most colleges) assembling a large board with 1000 dots and each dot represents a few pieces of criteria. Filling that board with candidates that have those varied criteria would essentially fill the needs of that particular class. I tell my DS all the time - do not define yourself solely on your grades - you are much much more than that. Since many of you now know that LOAs are coming out - look at your application and dig deep - make that essay a home-run essay that separates you from the pack. What makes you special, what do you bring to the table. Don't think that you will make the cut based solely on grades. There are many many more factors that go into a well crafted class.

Hi!! Just got mine too! :) do you know if once you complete those items, you’ve got an assured appointment? I have the presidential already, trying to figure out if I should continue interviewing for congressional noms

It wouldn't hurt in my opinion! Congrats! And yes, once you complete those things and USNA receives them, you should be offered an appointment!

I would. For just the experience if nothing else.

With a presidential nom and LOA - you need passing CFA scores and medically qualified.

ABSOLUTELY compete for ALL noms you are eligible for. You need to have as many opportunities for admissions to place you as they can. It even says on the USNA.edu website to ‘apply for all noms you are eligible’. Make sure and tell them you hold an LOA!

And congrats 🙌

You need to have as many opportunities for admissions to place you as they can. Last year, a great candidate, with an LOA, ultimately didn’t receive an appointment. It happens.

But doesn’t one nom with LOA (assuming medically and CFA qualified) guarantee appointment offer?

LOAs that don’t get in are from a lack of a nomination or inability to get medical waiver.

TY, good catch!! Had ‘SA’s discretionary noms’ on my mind. Edited my post!

It’s still recommended to compete for all noms you are eligible for. There isn’t a downside, as far as I can see. And USNA recommends it.

More congrats to all receiving good news. Exciting time of the cycle 🌟

Thank you! Good to know, if it is beneficial I will absolutely go for it. No harm in getting interview practice haha

We are wondering similar thing…DS received his LOA and qualifies for Presidential nom. He’s excited for upcoming scheduled MOC interviews….Is it likely with the LOA that USNA will “charge” one of the 100 slots using his Presidential nom, or does he need to still worry about receiving MOC nomination?

Every cycle it is recommended to apply for all nominations available to you. Even with a Presidential nomination and LOA I would tell my kid to keep interviewing and try to receive any and all noms for which they are eligible.

It provides the admissions board with the most flexibility in terms of assigning an admission to a nomination.

This is one time in life where being greedy and striving for noms is encouraged.

It’s not actually greedy…obtaining more nominations allows admissions to be more flexible and could allow someone who didn’t receive a MOC nomination, but only a POTUS one to be appointed. This assumes your DS gets another nomination, as well. Where the nomination is charged to can change throughout the cycle. For example, admissions might issue an appointment based on a POTUS, but then if a MOC nomination is received later on, they could charge it to that.
