Great day at our house! DS received an LOA from the CGA today! Only conditions were to submit ACT scores w/Writing (already done), Pass DODMERB (already done), and complete application (already done).

So, fairly safe to say, he is in????

Very excited and proud parents!!!

Congratulations! Awesome! But whatever will you worry about for the rest of the year? His classmate's parents will all be jealous of you for that, if nothing else. :thumb:

Congrats and now bubblewrap him. I know I always say this but since he has gotten this far, he should not take any unnecessary risks that might sideline him. one of the kids that got an LOA last year broke his arm playing pick up football. He got DQed and goodbye dreams. He has to reapply and start from scratch again this year. Good luck.

Congrats!
How was your DS notified? If snail mail, when was his portal updated? Also, did your DS attended Aim?

He received a letter in the mail. No reference to it on the portal. And yes, he did attend AIM. The letter indicates that the decision was based on his "strong performance at AIM" and his "strong record" The "conditions" are that he submit his application, essays and ACT and Writing scores by 10/15, and to pass DODMERB by 4/15/14. Then at the bottom it talks about the application process, free to apply, link to apply, etc. He has already done all of that, so I would surmise that this is based on the AIM application data, and AIM performance as I don't think his EA1 application has even been looked at yet.

On the bottom, it says that less than 1% of the 545 that participated in AIM receive this letter. Really? 5 people from all of AIM this year? We are truly humbled.

Best of luck and best wishes to all those still waiting to hear.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly. Per previous threads, last year 41% of those accepted last year went to AIM. So hopefully the other Aimsters will hear positive results once the applications are completed! How awesome for your son to be in the 1%. His determination, motivation and skills were certainly well noticed at Aim.

We did only tender five LOA offers to AIM graduates, so that 1% is accurate.

Congrats, that is totally wonderful. My DD said AIM was great and she worked hard, but, she saw others who were light years ahead of her. I will tell her to stop checking the mail. But, hope is not loss for us. The app is finished, now its the waiting time. I am proud that she has taken this road and even if she dont make it, just that she tried, makes it all worth it. You should be very proud, this is a major accomplishment.

Never give up! The journey is just beginning. I believe the Board starts to meet to review EA1 applications around 15 October.

Thank you for the accolades. We are very proud of his accomplishment, but very humbled that he was chosen as I know there are many well qualified candidates out there as deserving.

Congratulations. Is USCGA the top choice for service academy?

Yes! It seems so. That seemed to change after his last visit to the Academy last week. While the decision is 100% his to make, we are very supportive and happy should he choose this route.

He was actually considering withdrawing his USNA application. I told him he has come this far, he may as well stay the course and see it through.

Go Bears!
