Hey guys,
Well, the title says it all. I was contacted by admissions today and received an LOA for the class of 2029. This is on the condition that I receive a nomination and pass DoDmerb. Some very exciting news! I still have my eyes on the prize: an appointment. I’ve got a long way to go in the journey, but this unicorn is definitely welcome! Good luck to all of the other applicants out there!

Awesome. Don’t forget to thank your parent/s and anybody else who helped you get here. It's a huge opportunity you’ve earned, a rare thing.

Amazing and congratulations! Can you let us know if you are a recruited athlete or any other special circumstances?

Well done. Pet the unicorn, but pay attention to the trusty mules of your alternate plans.

I am not a recruited athlete, nor do I have any special circumstance that I can think of. I turned in my application the 1st of September. I have quite a bit of leadership on my application, but other than that I have no idea why I received an LOA. It’s really difficult to speculate, only the admission board knows. All I can do is be extremely thankful and honored to have this opportunity. I wish the best of luck to you and your application process though! Hopefully we all start hearing good news soon!

Absolutely. I have already been accepted into my backup plan, so I at least have a different route if something doesn’t work out.

Of course. I would have never made it here without the help of others. I’ve already reached out to a few folks today who were crucial to this timeline.

Congrats!! How did it come to you?
I received an email from admissions. The portal is glitched right now, so it still hasn’t updated. My portal currently says “incomplete”, but I was told the status would (hopefully) change soon.

DO you mind sharing your GPA/Test scores?

My weighted GPA is 4.203. My school only offers 4 AP courses, but I have taken dual enrollment calculus 1 and 2. My unweight GPA is 4.0.

My SAT score was a 1390. I’m retaking it in October to try and get the best score I can.
Congrats!

Thank you for sharing! It looks like you deserve it. I wish you all the best.

Congrats to the OP and recipient of the sought after unicorn.

What is clear from follow on posts and stats—- nothing is predictable. Or can be forecast from one candidate to another.

The academy is looking for a whole candidate situation. No stats shared here can understand or see the value or lack there of for teacher recommendations, test scores, ECA verifications, BGO interview, personal statements etc.

Put your best application in, work through the nominations, excel at plans B-Z. Practice interviews. Prep your resume. Excel at your coursework.

The rest is out of your hands.

On retaking the SAT in October . . . not needed for USNA, your MOCs will likely have made their decisions by the time your scores come out. . . the only benefit I see is if you want higher scores for civilian colleges / other SAs.
