LOA- What does this mean? How do I open it?

Opened my portal today to find my status has changed from pending review to a LOA! (YAY!)

However, everything is already checked off, I have a principal nomination from my MOC, and I made it through DoDMERB fully qualified. So, what does a LOA mean at this point? Do I have to do anything?

On a separate note, I can't even seem to figure out how to open or access the actual LOA. All I can see in my portal is that it's there, no way to view it. I haven't received any other communication yet either.

I'm trying to suppress my excitement until an actual appointment comes in, but I'm kind of freaking out! I appreciate your advice and guidance.
Thanks!

This year, they seem to be changing everyone's status to LOA before they issue an appointment. Very different than other years where a LOA is issued to people the Academy highly desires, but have not yet met all requirements and their status sat that way, often for a long time.

In other words, congratulations on your appointment!! ;)

It seems to be, in some cases, a place marker used during the ‘notification’ period for MOC’s. A lot of people have had the same happen this year. *assuming all conditions are met* (which you would be notified if you weren’t).

Answer unknown numbers! In case your MOC’s notify.

Your status will probably change very soon to a full appointment so check it as often as you can. Congrats!

Congrats! As everyone else said, there isn't a way to actually open the LOA but since all of your checklist items are done, your FQO should show up soon! For me, it took two days from when my checklist items were all done and my LOA showed up to getting the full appointment.

Wow that's incredible. Congrats!

Where do you see this? I don’t see anything stating pending or anything else on my portal.

Well done! Congrats and welcome to the Yard!

It should be on the home page, right after you log into the portal.

If you see where it says 'USNA - Conditional Offer (LOA)' or the 'Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment' in the middle right, that is where your status should be posted. Mine showed 'Complete - Pending Review' for a few months until it changed into an LOA and then finally the FQO, but that should be where you can see your status.

Just completed all of the items on my checklist after receiving an LOA. Now, just waiting for the full offer. Thanks for all of your questions, I read through a lot of your comments and answers and it certainly helped! Best of luck to you!
