LOA

In general when I say strive for an LOA, I mean to do everything you can to have your complete package done as early as possible, as strong as possible. Don't be one of these people saying in December "I have to retake my CFA but it's too cold out to run the mile" or still trying to track down the last letter of recommendation. I realize there's no "box" to check to try for that LOA, but the sooner you have everything complete to the best of your ability, the greater your chances for not only an LOA, but also the eventual appointment!

just curiosity...yeah my congresswoman's director of constituent services guaranteed me a principle nomination, so i guess i dont need a LOA?

An LOA is issued anytime the Academy wants to make an appointment but something is *missing* preventing the appointment from being made.
That one thing is usually a Nomination but not always.
Kids get LOA's who don't clear DoDMERB and need a medical waiver, kids get LOA's pending a "good" CFA, kids get LOA's pending a Nomination.

From what I have seen over the years, the first LOA's go out after SLS. Don't necessarily go by past practice though because the admissions procedures can change.

All you really need to do is go to SLS, have fun, do a good job and tend to your application. When the application is released, it's not hard to get it done if you don't procrastinate!
Get your application done ASAP and stay on top of your DODMERB.
If you do all of that - then you will have done all you can.
Good Luck!

Would my admissions officer be Major Belmont? is that same thing as regional commander, because that is what Major Belmont is.

Yes, work with Major Belmont. Do everything he tells you to do on a timely basis.

It would definitely be beneficial if you met with him personally, since he can answer questions and stuff, but it's not that important.
