I received my LOA two weeks ago and I just finished my interview with one of my Senators! How early will I know I have received a nomination from that senator then an appointment from Air Force???

As for the Senator -- check their website. Most have a website that will tell you the date by which they will announce appointments. Some Senators make a phone call, some send a letter. It is entirely dependent on your state and your individual Senator. There is no standard date or time period.

My son found out from his ALO - who called to see if he'd gotten a letter. Check with the Senator's office on when they make decisions and notifications.

Thank you very much for the congratulations and for the information! I did find out when my senator will notify me, which will be around December! I guess I just have to wait and see if I got the nomination or not!

Congrats :jump1:!! Would you mind sharing stats (I feel you're a recruited athlete)?:shake:

Thank you!!! I'm still new to this forum, what do you mean by stats? Like my gpa, current course load, and such? Or athletic stats?

I think they are looking for gpa/class rank/test scores. Most on the board would not grasp the swimming times. You are a very good swimmer and would have an instant impact next year. I'm sure my daughter and coach casey would be glad to have you there to train with. I'm sure you will get your nom.

congrats

Thank you!
Current GPA: 3.9
Current Course Load: AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science, English 4 Honors. Also Dual Enrolled at the local State College.
These are my CFA results as a girl:
- BB Throw: 46.2 Feet
- Pull-Ups: 3
- Shuttle Run: 9'4
- Sit-Ups: 92
- Push Ups: 50 ( in 1:40)
- 1-mile run: 6.08

Actually, if you didn't mind, would you be willing to post swimming stats? For us other swimmers who are NOT looking at being recruited athletes  and are just curious?

+1 :thumb:

Competitive swimmers seem to make good cadets and midshipman. Every year there are multiple appointees from the competitive swim team that DS swam on, and I have yet to hear of one quitting. It must be all those early morning workouts. And in DS's case, he was prepared for any amount of yelling as you could hear his swim coach yelling from out in the parking lot and the pool was inside.

Enjoy the rest of your senior year.

they had a men's recruited one dropped out first day of BCT (class of 2014) and one of the top men's recruits dropped out of this years BCT fairly early. So no matter the background it does happen. Maybe not so much from the yelling but there are alot of other pressures.

I think most of the recruited fencers do stay on to graduate too (no facts, just gut feeling), but many of them quit the team

did you go in for the swim team? what are your events and times? just curious!

And congrats!!

Thank you for all of the congrats! This application process and then the waiting are all nerve racking! I'm a swimmer(girl) and I go 51 in the 100 free, 1.05 in the 100 breast, and 2.23 in the 200 breast!

Congrats to you and a few questions...

My first post ever so please be patient! My daughter just received an unanticipated LOA this week. Nomination interviews are set for the next 3 weeks. I have a question....she also has a 2nd DoDMERB remedial that arrived the same day. Does the LOA have any impact on DoDMERB decisions, or does it remain entirely independent as is the case with the early part of the app process?

Also, just curious....the unanticipated LOA and positive momentum suddenly has her realizing this could happen. She went into the process thinking long shot, but now that things are looking much better, she is getting really nervous about the reality and significance of the whole thing. Is this a reaction others have seen? THanks for any insights.

Side-tracking a bit from OP's comments (who had LOA for Air Force), but responding to ProudAmerican. My son is in a similar situation as your daughter. DoDMERB website indicated medical DQ for my son on 9/22. Two days later he had scheduled BGO interview. At that time BGO instructed DS to make sure he had Plan B in place. DS was noticeably cranky for 24 hours (never talked about being disappointed about DQ, but could tell he felt badly). After 24 hours, he kicked into high gear for Plan B; completed Common App and started applying to other schools.

On 10/6 received letter requesting remedial -surprise! Remedial is scheduled this Friday 10/26. Then on 10/20 received LOA (another surprise). Congressional interview is scheduled in 2 weeks. Son is excited about USNA, but also suddenly slightly ambivalent. I think filing out the common app and applying to other schools got him interested in the alternatives and now he seems just a tad unsure. It could also be a protective mechanism, because he knows he could still fail remedial and he is trying not to hope too much.

We are just riding out the process; it's been quite an interesting/educational journey since he heard about NASS for the 1st time in the spring and went to the Academy in June. You'll find this forum is an incredible wealth of information. Wishing your daughter (and all candidates) the very best!
