I'm currently a junior starting my application process. I am also planning on attending NASS.

I am curious about the Letters of Assurance.
Would this guarantee admissions for a candidate if they qualify/complete the rest of their applications (sort of a conditional acceptance?)?
Has there been a case in which a LOA was given out but the candidate was not accepted in the end?
Also, what would be the qualifications of a typical student receiving a LOA (stats, academics, GPA, SAT, etc)?

Thanks!

I direct your question to the following sticky link found at the top of the USNA forum page. I think you'll find what you're looking for contained therein.

yrangd, I know every year is different, but my advice to you is not to count on an LOA no matter how great your credentials are. From reading this forum I gather that the USNA ran into some conflicts in the class of 2018 cycle and therefore really cut back on the number of LOA's this cycle. Mush on with plan A, B and C. If you are lucky enough to receive one, all the better, but it will be a long fall stalking the mailbox for an LOA. Just sayin'
