LOA

Yes. DS got LOA letter (came by FedEx) in end of October 2019 and his full appointment in early December 2019.

It varies from year to year. Please do not expect an LOA, no matter how amazing your candidate is. Most offers of admission will come out in the spring. I know the waiting is hard. I have been through it with three of my kids, classes of '13, '17, and '21. Get your application complete and enjoy your remaining time with family and friends. Good luck.

KP does give LOA's. I do not know know the exact number or if that information is even available. It is important for your son or daughter to get their application in as early as possible. If they are planning on playing a sport they should be in contact with their prospective coach who can assist. One of my two Mid's submitted his application in the fall and had an LOA by the end of December, the other did not receive an LOA but was notified of his appointment in May.

His application is finished, medical and physical assessment complete; he has been in contact multiple times with the coach.
Thank you, everyone, for your help.

What sport? My son plays football and has been told to expect a LOA. He has been given his appointment to Coast Guard Academy so I am sure that is what is driving the LOA. He loves KP though and that's where he ultimately wants to go (I think). LOL

Also a football recruit applying to both usmma and uscga. I have also been told to expect a LOA. I have also heard that LOAs are being given out later this year for some reason.

Cool!! Well hopefully if they pick the same school we will get a chance to meet. I'm already planning out my fall next year to be on the east coast during football season!! Will be fun

This goes to both of you. I was a lacrosse recruit and was told to expect an LOA. never got one and was instead offered a prep spot. Don't let coaches get your hopes up, they are not part of the admissions process. Keep your other options open.

Very good point. I told my son that exact same thing. Until the appointment is in hand, it's all conditional.

I appreciate the insight. Thank you!
