LOA

To those with LOA's, congratulations! You must be something special to receive an LOA. Make sure you work to meet the conditions required on your LOA. If you do not, then you will not receive your appointment. Double check your back-up plan B school to make sure everything is in order there. Remember that you can still lose an appointment if you fail a class or break your leg, so keep working on your back-up. Stay in shape, stay out of trouble, and don't do anything stupid your senior year. Keep studying hard so your brain is in high gear when you report to USMMA in July. Enjoy your remaining time with family and friends because the time will fly by. Best wishes.

DS just received his LOA in the mail! He was at a football game and I couldn't wait for him to get home and open the letter!! Excited
Congrats to your son! Be sure to post on the USMMA 2025 Appointment thread when he gets his appointment. ⚓

My son was notified of his LOA today...he's pumped. Status hasn't changed yet, but he was excited that his read went well.
Congratulations to your son! Just a reminder to please post on the USMMA 2025 Appointment thread once he gets his appointment. ⚓

Congrats to all who received an LOA! Very excited and proud to see that my son received an LOA from USMMA today. (recruited for football)
🏈 What position and what state does he hail from, only if you care to share?🏈

California - he has been a RB/ tailback since he was 8 years old.. also played some QB running the option and wildcat sets. (his high school runs the ball 90% of the time - that is when they were playing)...

Oh, California? What area. I went to high school just east of Sacramento. Haven't lived there full time since then, though.

Welcome to the hundreds (or more) of us who, with no military experience, became Academy parents. Read long and hard through the threads on SAF. Be prepared to have DS be proud of, be upset about, learn about, etc. things you never knew existed. No matter how good a quarterback he may be, he will still be a plebe candidate and then a plebe before becoming recognized as a midshipman. And your job will be to listen and support, support, support. You may recommend actions which seem logical to you but are 180 degrees from what he needs to do. So don't recommend ideas which are, in fact, counterproductive or even detrimental to his cause. There will be people assigned to tell him what he needs to do. Neither your son nor the administration will be interested in what you have to say. The seas will not always be calm nor the winds following. But he will grow in more ways and faster than you can imagine. Call your local parents and/or Alumni group; you'll find them extremely helpful in calming you, explaining to you the ways of this parallel universe. ( May the Lord save SR.) And don't forget to send cookies on your assigned weeks.

Nice! However, you definitely don't want to have his name on this site. They discourage it to remain anonymous. You might want to change to just reflect your SAF handle. :)
Thank you. I didn't know that. I will need to ask an admin to edit it or remove it for me. I went outside the alloted time to do it myself

Hello everyone!

Just to remind everyone, please do not put personally-identifying information in your posts. SAF does not normally delete posts however when there's enough information revealed that can put the OP at risk of more than just a comment here, we can, and will, take action. I have removed the post that identified the young man earlier. I congratulate him and share the joy of his father!! This is a great moment!

Let's just be mindful that too much information in a public forum can be problematic!

Again, congratulations to the young man!!!

Steve

Thanks for the heads up.

My son’s status on the portal changed to LOA today! We were surprised to see any change reflected on Christmas Day. In fact, we almost didn’t check but couldn’t break the daily habit that’s developed! He had previously received the recruited athlete email so this wasn’t a complete surprise but it was still reassuring to see those three letters! Hoping for a medical waiver soon (which should be his last obstacle) and then an appointment. It’s been a long and uphill battle already with CFA and PFE retakes, nomination disappointments, medical disqualification.

That’s awesome! What sport is he being recruited for? Congratulations to him!
