Hello,

My son received an LOA to one of the service academies and is very happy to say the least. He is now thinking about next steps.

He is planning to call the nominating sources to let them know he got the LOA, He still wants nominations to other Academies since he is still undecided assuming the other academies are interested.

Also, heres a tricky one for you guys...should he let the other academies (e.g., areas academy representatives doing interviews etc) know about the LOA?
 
Wow. Congradulations to your son! That's quite an achievement.

As for MOCs, I would call them to let them know if they don't already. Some MOCs get notified right away while others keep their heads in the sand. My congressman, for example, has a checkbox next to "LOA Offered" while neither of my senators do.

The best thing to do is call.
 
Did the poster say Air Force Academy LOA??? If it's army, that's understandable. They give out LOA's back in August; some July. Navy also gives some early. Only air force holds until October and beyond. mike....
 
I wouldn't be surprised if it was AFA since the 1st board met last Monday.
 
Mine got his AFA on Oct 19th - I can't believe it was almost 2 years ago already. I was so shocked, so thrilled, so over-the-top!!! Oh. I think I still am!

Spill the beans, Supreme: which Academy?

My son(s) let their MOC know right away when they got the LOA. I have no idea if they let USNA know as well. The MOC already knew.
 
dreams do come true.....my son was notified of his LOA to the Air Force Academy on October 8, 2009.....
 
i should probably clarify.....he was contacted via e-mail by our Congressman congratulating him on his LOA from the AFA.....
 
Congratulations to you and your son. That is awesome that he got an LOA. I hope that I will get to meet him next year. Can I ask what the LOA is hinging on (nomination, medical qualification, etc.)?
