Checked my portal today to make sure everything has been submitted (aside from personal statements and CFA), and noticed I had an LoE dated sometime in the middle of August, before any transcript or activities/personal records had been verified. What is the significance of an LoE in the admissions process? And do people ever go from LoE to LoA's ever or is either one a pretty good sign? I know I should focus on getting the appointment, but in the non-competitive district I live in a LoA would basically guarantee me the nominations (MoC's nomination board chair's words, not mine). Thanks

There are many threads on this, but I would personally recommend that you do not spend any energy thinking about LoAs. There are way too many other things within your sphere of control which should be a priority in the short term. If you receive one, great, but now is the time to hone your prioritization skills - they will be essential throughout your four years in the academy and beyond. Good luck.

The significance of an LOE is that you are competitive in your district and the Academy sees something in your application that they like. It is not an assurance and I have seen candidates with an LOE not get an appointment and also have seen many get appointments without an LOE or LOA. You need to get the rest of your application completed so you can move to the next steps of DODMERB. It is a good sign but you still have to keep working to improve your application. The individuals you are competing against are also still working hard.
