Look out for class of 2027 BFE ( big fat envelope) in mail

During my DD's Swab Summer the parents from each company created Messenger groups to trade info, pictures, ask questions and get to know each other. The swabs spend the majority of their time from induction through the end of the fourth class academic year with their companies, so it was good to know the other families, and since it was a much smaller group we were able to get to know each other a little better. The Messenger group died down a lot once the school year started and most traffic went to the normal Parents Class Of group. We were lucky in that our DD's first roomie had a brother that was class of 2021 so they knew all the good stuff.

Parents can join the official CGA Parents page after the appointment has been accepted.

You can also search on facebook. USCGA Parents Class of 2027. Once your child has accepted their appointment, then you can join the USCGA Parents Association page. Depending on your state, there are also local parent's associations (I am part of the Chesapeake and Potomac group which includes parents in Virginia and Maryland). Local chapters usually host an event in the late spring for incoming cadets to give them a chance to meet each other and for the incoming parents to ask questions from parents of current cadets.

On FaceBook, type in USCGA Class of 2027 Parent Page. A prompt will be given and you will type in your children's name. They do a brief check with their database of appointees and then joining the page is granted.

I'm a class 2026 mom from NM. We have no local USCGA chapter, but the Naval Academy Parents Association has been a great help! I found the USCGA Parents 2026 page on FB invaluable, as well as following Pduddy on FB. He takes tons of pictures on FB during Swab Summer which is so helpful when you have no contact. Congratulations! Go Bears!
 
Does anyone know when the cadet handbooks and other paperwork will be sent to us? Ive already started my security clearance after i received an email. I also got the BFE already where I had to send my SSN and birth certificate, but I heard there's supposed to be more

I thought all the forms, along with a checklist, came together in the BFE?
Maybe that is changed (or perhaps I'm remembering wrong). Hopefully another accepted applicant will respond here, or you could ask in the USCGA 2027 Facebook page to see if that is the same for other accepted applicants. You also might want to call your AO just to confirm that the forms are separate from the BFE.

There might be changes, but they probably would be minor.

The packets with the forms will be posted online and mailed after May 1.

There are a bunch of forms that will need to be filled out. Because we weren't pulled off the waitlist until May 23rd, we didn't get ours until May 27th and had ours back in the mail on May 30th. I remember that it took about 3-4 hours for us to fill out everything and compile all the paperwork but you will definitely have plenty of time if it is coming around May 1st!
 
DS accepted his appointment April 24, but we haven't received the acceptance package yet. He did receive an email confirming the USCGA got his SS card and Birth Certificate and he received the background check which he completed. We are waiting for additional information, correct? Thanks in advance.
 
I wouldn't be too worried just yet. Maybe call us it's not there early next week.
 
I should clarify. I used "us" rather than them. I was multitasking in in a meeting. 😀I am not at USCGA.
