My parents are really busy (I have 6 siblings) and I doubt they will be coming to orientation; can some cadets tell me if they think I should convince them to come or if it really doesn't matter. Thanks.

bjschick, have you received an appointment yet? (I just have a question about something unrelated to this thread. haha)

no but i am hoping to be appointed. i have 2 noms and just found out i am medically qualified!

because I'm a college student too and I was wondering if the appointment letter will be the same "big envelope" seeing as we still have to send our final transcripts and our online app wont be updated yet. (if that makes sense)

AFbound - I am currently taking a year off from school so it doesnt apply to me, but my understanding is that they want a current list of your classes and any interm grades you received.

The final college transcripts will work the same way as if you were in high school - your appointment will be contingent on your continued academic success. call your LOA if you want more info.

What year are you and where do you attend college?

Orientation isn't all that important. Its a good experience, but I personally didn't attend, and didn't really need to. I knew this was the place for me, so I didn't really need any convincing or touring to make me come here. I-day was the first time I had seen the Academy in person.

I'm not a cadet, but maybe save the trouble of your parents having to go to tour the school, and they can visit for parents weekend.

I'd ask your parents. Mine had a blast seeing the campus and going to the briefings. (Although I heard they're not doing this next year!) I'm glad mine went and so are they. I guess it boils down to whether or not you want them with you, and if they really want to go or not.
