First off thank you to this site and the people who have helped out so far.

I finished and submitted my USAFA application in late December; however, I did not receive a congressional nomination. I understand this will not allow me to have the chance at an appointment into the Academy. I am very interested to see how competitive I am as an applicant to the USAFA Prep school. I am a 3.6 GPA student with a 29 ACT and am a recruited baseball player by the Academy. I have minimal military background but am dedicated to becoming a future cadet and serving this great nation. If someone could see how I stack up as a candidate and/or has any ideas to strengthen what I have now it would be greatly appreciated! Also, I understand the Prep is an equally selective process, but I would like to hear when I can expect an acceptance or denial answer. Thank you and God bless.

My son is currently at the prep, and although I am a novice in comparison to some of the experts on this site, I know that he would be willing to answer any of your questions.

Thank you that would be excellent! Is there a way I could get in contact with your son to ask him a few of the questions I have?

Trying to see if I can send you a private message, you may not have enough activity here for that.

I'm very new to this site as I bet you can tell and have just joined today. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Best to not use your real name and/or picture of yourself if that is what is showing here.

Welcome. I recommend reading the "stickies" at the top of the forums in which you are interested.

Search on "chances" or "chance me" - the "am I competitive" threads are numerous.

I recommend you find an avatar other than a photo. You will notice lots of fun ones that preserve anonymity. Using a screen name that doesn't lead back to the "real you" is also recommended, for privacy reasons.

There is a lot of great info here, with posters from a wide range of perspectives, and, in general, a desire to help and share info.

Oh - I think it is 10 posts to PM. I am sure that info and other guidelines are here somewhere. I usually use the phone app to skip around.
