Looks like I am going to USNA now...

Which Bates durashocks? I looked them up and found several models of black bates durashocks online. Also, which athletic shoes should I buy?

athletic shoes- find a pair of mostly white running shoes

I think it has been posted this pair will be one of the few things you get to keep and use. They even take your hair!

Go to a specialty running store and have experts fit you into a pair. Ask for high mileage trainers (not xc/track flats). Be prepared to likely spend $100+
Break into them before i-day (I put about 25 miles in mine and don't plan on getting beyond 50- training with other pairs)

If you can't afford $100+ on running shoes, don't worry. We spent $50-$60 on a pair for our son, and he has not had any problems. I agree with the recommendation to break the shoes in prior to I-Day.

You're Welcome

Again, thank you for the words of encouragement, it is EXACTLY what I needed!

You're welcome. I'm certain you show up at Annapolis with the enthusiasm and energy that guided you to an appointment, you're going have a blast and have stories you'll pass on one day.:thumb:
Cheers...

Just one word of unsolicited advice . . . and it probably goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway . . .

Don't show up at USNA telling everyone that USAFA was your first choice, you really would rather be there, etc. It won't go over well with your classmates or your detailers.

Well i just went to a dinner with the USNA parents club from my area, and it really put the jolt in me that i needed looking forward towards June. I also ordered a bunch of navy shirts the other day, so the transition is almost complete! Thank you all!

Backing up 1985: As someone who had been oriented to Army and ARMY, USNA was a late arrival on the scene. I went there on the premise I could service switch at graduation and continue my favored career path. I quickly discovered how infectuous the NAVY spirit could become, and long before the ARMY/NAVY game I was firmly in the Navy column. Also, as 1315 noted there are several significant differences between AF and Navy flying, with Navy being much more flexible out of necessity IMHO.

Go with an open and receptive mind and I am certain you will discover that NAVY really is not a second choice. Best wishes.
