My son went to session 3 of 2009 AIM and was asked by his cadre if he wanted his PFE that he did while there to be his official PFE for admittance. He said yes (234). Is this accurate information from the cadre? Can he submit a new score if he wants to? -officer

AIM PFE was submitted to admissions automatically back in 2006, i guess it would be the same now. I believe my cadet remarked on PFE score sheet application section that he had had a passing score at AIM.

Score of 234 is plenty unless one have a weak sports resume.

My daughters PFE from aim 2008 was in her admission records, I think they keep them all in their files, but I could be wrong..... 234 is an excellent score...

If someone completed the PFE at AIM 2009, the scoring report is automatically going to be added to their 2014 application...despite what the cadre may have told your son, it's not an option to include it or not, but AIMsters can always submit new/improved scores if they want to.

Is a score of 206 competitive or should she take it again?

I was told when I applied last year that a PFE score over 200 was competitive. For example, I got a 213 on my PFE for my application and I was accepted. However, at AIM, I got much lower than that. If the 206 was from AIM, I would say take it again just to see if she improve, it can't hurt, and if it is a lower score, she can always just stay with the 206.

A 206 is a low C. I would recommend a re-take.

All cadets at the Coast Guard Academy are required to pass the PFE at the beginning of each semester. The standard for graduation and commissioning is 200 points and cadets should always strive to achieve this score. Any cadet who scores below 165 points will be recommended for suspended disenrollment and may be recommended for immediate disenrollment based on previous PFE performance. There is not a prescribed minimum performance for each individual event on the PFE; only total scores are assessed.

285-300 = Max Club
258-284 = A
222-257 = B
200-221 = C
165-199 = D
0-164 = F

New cadets take the PFE during the first week of Swab Summer. Cadets who score less than 130 points on this first test are normally disenrolled. By the end of Swab Summer, usually the third week in August, new cadets are expected to score at least 165 points. Cadets unable to achieve this score by the end of the first academic semester, usually the second week in December, are normally disenrolled. Consequently, an applicant who cannot attain a score of at least 130 points will not receive a full appointment. This standard may be raised based on the competitiveness of the applicant pool and the needs of the Coast Guard.*

taking it again wouldnt hurt but a 206 is fine. all they care about is whether or not you will be at the commissioning standard (200) by the time you graduate. since you're already before coming in then you should be fine.
