My daughter and I met him in Seattle at the College fair and then the next night at a CGA admissions information night. He was pretty cool to chat with.

my admissions officer, LTJG Parker, said that they have an entire room full of maill that has not been opened yet. apparently it takes so long b/c all the info is put in by hand...i feel bad for them sometimes haha.

There is a small room, it's actually someone's office, that (at least a week before, until a week after, any deadline) ALWAYS seems to have five or six buckets/piles/stacks of mail just waiting to be opened. After that's done, by hand, all the forms get processed/entered in the database, again by hand, before getting filed, by hand of course, in the applicant's record. That's why we can't always immediately confirm that a letter of recommendation or your high school transcript was received when you just mailed it three days earlier!

Thanks Objee! It isnt as bad as I thought it would be....

BUT, would you mind grabbing that UPS overnight envelope I sent and filing that for me :shake::shake::biggrin::shake::thumb:

(I am kidding, of course)... well kinda

Unfortunately, the room looks like that every day for about two weeks around the EA deadline, Regular Admissions deadline, and then the AIM deadline...as soon as we start to make a dent in the piles/stacks, they deliver the mail and we're starting all over again!

Oh my! You guys do need a raise! That is a lot of mail to sort through! You are smart to post the picture...a picture is worth a thousand words...we will leave you alone to do what you do so well! Also Objee, thank you so very much for all of your posts and updates, they are a lifeline to parents and candidates alike!
By the way, on a personal note, my son has one more letter of rec. is it to late to send it? If not, should it be regular mail? fax? email? the recommender is willing to do any of the those...thanks...

Objee's photo reminds me of my days working in the Dean of Students' office in colleg

It was the olden days... and there was MUCH paperwork to be filed when interim and final grades came out. It was my job to file the grades and anything else that came into the office. We had file cabinets filled with folders -- one for each of the 1200 or so students on campus. It always amazed me that they trusted me with filing those grades -- lot's of personal info there. I considered it an honor.

I knew that it was a lot of work being in the Dean of Students' office... but I had friends who were assigned to Admissions -- and that was more work!

Hang in there, Objee and everyone else.

I second Maryland Mom (pmlutton) in saying thanks for all you do and for throwing us updates now and then. You are much appreciated and valued... and I'm sure we don't know the half of it.

As Snoopy says about Charlie Brown, "That round headed kid has no idea what I do all day."

OHH SURE you two are sucking up way better then me... :shake::shake::shake:

Group hug!!

(thats a joke by the way).... but you are...

Ya, it's right next to MY kid's envelope....lol :shake: Objee Could ya get that one too if you have a free minute?

Wow. This mama needs a new hobby. First offering brownies to unsuspecting cadets for inside info, and now sucking up to Objee. What's next?

Here's hoping that the wonderful folks in admissions find their way through the piles and piles of mail being delivered. Y'all are good folk by my estimation, and I know good news will be on the way soon for some lucky kiddos!

Have a great day everyone!

Oh, it isn't sucking up, ya know. That would never work

anyway... LOL. W

hat it is is just hanging on for the fun of it... and keeping hope alive... and for this mom home with littles with Rotavirus, it is just a voice reaching out into the world from the confinement of the puking, gatorade-sipping, moaning, cyring -- really pitiful around here -- my bigs are all banished... can't come home until after Wednesday night church. Although, now that I think of it, the littles likely caught this at church so I've sent my bigs to the front line! It is SO contagious! At least it is quiet around here so the sick ones can sleep between "episodes."

Really, it isn't sucking up... NONE of our kids need that anyway. They are all OUTSTANDING YOUNG AMERICANS with BRIGHT FUTURES... otherwise, they wouldn't even be in the running and we wouldn't be on this forum, right?

Bye, ya'll. Got to go stir the chicken soup and add bleach to the wash. Blessings to everyone.

Yes Ma'am you are correct....

yipes... FEEL BETTER!!!!

how. i thought LTJG Parker was jokeing a little bit...guess not. Well i know all my stuff is not in there. I handed it all to him on friday wen i had my interview lol. that really made mom chill out that it all would be in on time.

Tomorrow (Feb 10) is the last possible day for 2013 candidate interviews to be completed.

Ha ha!!! I love it. Yes, a box or two of Thin Mints might just do the trick...

By the way, congrats to your D on the prep school offer. I can tell you first hand that an extra year to grow up is a blessing. Even though my son didn't get prep, the extra year has done wonders for him. He is so much more independent, responsible and mature than he was last year at this time. I do think he would have been fine at CGA this year, but in the big picture, this has been the right thing for him. He is even more dedicated to getting in and doing well. So.....now we wait and see what God has in store for him.

While I espouse patience, and how great it's been having him home, make no mistake I am tapping my fingers and silently cursing the mailman for being so slow. It seems like each day he comes later, and later.

Off to conquer the laundry. Uggh. That's one thing I won't miss about son when (notice I said when....not if) he goes to CGA. His stinky crew clothes can turn my stomach from a mile away! :shake:
