Majors

I read someplace that you can also be a Physics major and become a test pilot but I don't know if that is true.

One twin here has wanted Physics always, the other twin is leaning toward Chemistry. We'll see.

In order to become a test pilot, you must have an engineering degree I believe. Aerospace or Aeronautical would be the ones you would be looking for. Aerospace more so, though, since you want to be an astronaut.

what is/where can i find the difference between aeronautical and aerospace majors?

*luckily i was already interested in an engineering major

I believe where most schools have aerospace, a combo of astro and aero, USAFA splits it up and offers both aero and astro. so no aerospace engineering major there

I think that aeronautical focuses mainly on aircraft while astronautical focuses on spacecraft, but I'm not completely sure.

I know you can earn a minor along with your BS, but if you validate enough classes can you double major? I think I remember seeing something like that once, but I'm not sure about that either:shake:

Sure you can double major. Prepare for a few 8 class semesters and summer school though!

Double majoring in two engineering degrees? You'd have to be crazy, super-smart, or both.

i wanna do the same thing... flight school, test pilot school, and then nasa with this new constellation project... i talked to a few astronauts and for all nasa cares you can graduate with a degree in forestry... by the time you're to be an astronaut nasa wants you to have had a masters degree in something and a doctorate wont hurt... what you do at the academy wont affect you.. im going aeronautical engineering and then my masters will probably be something related to that in a more specific area.. pick the degree that you'd probably want to go to a higher level in.. no one gets in on a bachelors degree though.. maybe we'll have a few courses together!

NO NO NO NO NO! Trust me I am NOT that crazy. lol

I'm a Mech E major right now but my freshman gov. class last semester got me kinda interested in poly sci. Seriously, how completely opposite can you get? I mean... engineering and political science?

The more opposite the majors, the less overlap, and the MORE classes you would end up taking.
