My D has completed her USMA application except for the CFA (has an LOE/3 NOMs/overnight in JAN14). She has never heard from or had contact with a MALO/FFR (or anyone except for LOE). Just wondering what the "NORM" is?

I wouldn't feel too discouraged, I haven't had contact from my MALO/FFR regarding a interview either. I contacted my RC today asking who is my MALO/FFR because I am unsure of whether I have the right guy or not.

Not discouraged at all. I think my D has a strong chance of being appointed. Just wondering if anyone else was having interactions with MALO/FFRs. After we complete this process, I'm thinking about volunteering for one of those rolls or becoming a member of the MOC NOM Boards. It would be invigorating to mentor/shepherd future generation of candidates through the process.

two reasons why a candidate does not get contacted by MALO/FFR

not competitive or there is no active MALO/FFR where you are.

My DS e-mailed the MALO listed on his portal multiple times but never got a response. He finally contacted admissions and was told an interview isn't required (unlike USNA). He has an LOE and attended SLE '13, so I can only hope they have everything they need for his application.

As stated by the previous poster, my MALO also told me that I would not have to interview. My MALO differs from the rest of yours in the fact that he is in frequent contact with me and has even offered for me to stay at his house while I attend an Army Aviation Guard Drill. He's great.
