March Army ROTC Board

Best of luck to everyone! I hope I get a scholarship also! Gah....Waiting...
:tank:

How long after the board meets do you think we will begin to see updates on our application status'? My guess is 2 weeks?

This is how it was for the past 2 boards (according to scholarship recipients on this forum):

Board met: 11/30-12/4
Status changes occurred on 12/17

Board met: 1/11-1/15
Status changes occurred 1/29-2/1

So yes, 2 weeks sounds about right.

It's probably going to be around the 22nd of March. Not only do they have to wait and process all of the January acceptance paperwork, then they have to determine which schools have open allocations. From there they will go down the OML list and make the determinations on who receives scholarships and to which schools.

Good luck!

Great news. My son received his 4 year scholarship to his first choice of schools!!!

He had been awarded an AROTC scholarship from the Jan. board but not to his first choice school. We found out today that he was offered one there today.

cjs,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Was it from the March board? It seems early for it to be from the board meeting this week?

Thank you!

No, it was from the January board. We just had some issues and a spot became available for his first choice of schools.

Same here. I got the school notification today 4-yr scholarship. It had to be from the Feb??? board.

Congrats!

There wasn't a Feb. board. Is this the first that you have heard about your scholarship? Is to Army? Whatever the answer, congratulations!

I know for my son that he had been awarded one back in january but only to 1 school.

Thanks.

I 1st got word by seeing the DoDMERB website message on the GoArmy website. Then it took until yesterday for the school to be listed as the one offering the scholarship.

It's an Army 4-year.

Attention!

I think everyone who has not received a 4-year national scholarship should begin checking their status daily as it appears CC is once again awarding scholarships. Even though goaliegirl has accepted a 4-year campus scholarship already (see other thread) I checked the status page today and found that she received a 4-year national scholarship to a different school as well (which she will decline unless something blows up with her campus scholarship - highly unlikely to blow up though). I haven't checked the status site in a week (since another member mentioned having had their light turn on) and I definitely have been in contact with Cadet Command since the last board and she did not have a scholarship at that time.

Therefore CC is now in the grant scholarship phase again.

Good luck to all!

thanks goaliedad.

Did anyone else answer the survey in the application package?
Any ideas on how that might factor into the OML equation?

My son didn't answer it as it wasn't part of the application process back when he did his. He was awarded a scholarship from the Jan. board.
After I read about it on here I did inquire (since he didn't co it) and was told that it had nothing to do with the OML score.

don't take my word as things change constantly and I don't know all their policies. Get in contact with CC and inquire.

Thanks for the heads up. Just checked, and DS's CC status hasn't changed...but we're still hopeful that he'll be selected.

We found out earlier this week that DS was denied admission to SDSU, but we weren't surprised. We live outside the immediate boundary area for that school and SDSU is not admitting as many local kids because of budget cuts, and DS was already accepted to CSU San Marcos, which shares the same AROTC program as SDSU (Aztec Battalion). So, whether or not DS gets an AROTC scholarship, he still can go to a local school and then transfer to SDSU if he wants. OR, if he's only offered an in-state scholarship, he still has a place to go.

Again...hopeful thoughts, prayers, & good luck to everyone still waiting to hear something!

Wow, goaliedad, that's great! I had a feeling she'd come through OK. And she did - twice!

My daughter did. That survey was initially part of the package when she first applied in October. When we updated her app in January, that survey popped up so she completed it.

Congrats GoalieDad and GoalieGirl for both scholarships! You are on a roll now. I was going to say great job scoring two goals; then thought that might not be the best image for a goalie!

Thanks! Actually a couple of NHL goalies have scored goals and I believe Chris Osgood has scored 2 goals in his career.

It happens in an empty net situation where teams will pull their goalie late in the game when down by 1 (with less than a minute in the game usually) to get a 6th attacker. If they dump the puck in too near the goalie entering the offensive zone and don't attack quickly enough some goalies will try to launch the puck over the attackers all the way to the other end of the rink in hopes of hitting the empty net. A risky play as if the goalie doesn't launch it high enough to clear the attackers, they will knock the puck down and have position to shoot the puck on net instead of having to dig it out from behind the net or in the corner.
