March Army ROTC Board

My DoDMERB status changed as of earlier this week. It can't be from previous boards cause of an issue with my file, but why would it change if the board just met this week? Is this a hint at maybe being awarded a scholarship, or do they send info to DoDMERB when the begin to review applications?



EDIT: DoDMERB status was updated as of 24 Feb. It is for a DQ, pending a waiver from ROTC doctors.

Even though goaliegirl has accepted a 4-year campus scholarship already (see other thread) I checked the status page today and found that she received a 4-year national scholarship to a different school as well (which she will decline unless something blows up with her campus scholarship - highly unlikely to blow up though). I haven't checked the status site in a week (since another member mentioned having had their light turn on) and I definitely have been in contact with Cadet Command since the last board and she did not have a scholarship at that time.

Therefore CC is now in the grant scholarship phase again.

Correction. I talked to goaliegirl tonight. She got a call from the recruiting officer at the unit with the national scholarship. Although they had discussed what they had in 4-year national scholarships with us a few weeks ago, she was informed tonight that her award would be a 3-year AD.

Doesn't change the decision path, so for now we are not worried. Just a reminder that the scholarship notification online isn't all the details.
 
seems like everyone is getting their updates changed, Ive had my application done in December and didn't get picked up in Jan., haven't heard anything bout march, and my status STILL says i need to do an interview!!!!!

It just seems like it, but there are many out here who's status hasn't changed either. My son's was complete in September and his still says he needs to do an interview. Competition is tough this year, but keep the faith.

Thank you, we appreciate the support. We did go to Plan B this week with my son joining the Reserves. It really makes all of this real when he came back from testing as officially enlisted. Big Lump in the Throat!! Anyway, he is accepted at an in-state university where he'll take ROTC/SMP. If the scholarship does come through, he can be off to the out-of-state college he wants instead. He's getting his college degree and being in the Army, which were his main objectives. It's all good!

Same here. We're still waiting too. App. was done 11/30.
 
Yes we are still waiting as today is the last day of the week long board process....
All was:thumb::smile: complete in Sep 09 and continue to pray and wait

im currently a senior in high school. i just logged in to the army rotc website to check my application, and i took me to a blank application. Is this because the deadline past? i know my file is done and is being reviewed; im just wondering.

I believe so. We were on my son's about a week ago and I believe it said changes could only be made until 2/28/10 (not positive on the date, but it was very near.) I just tried to access it again and now it's gone and just gives the opportunity to start a new application, like you said.
 
I had placed a post on this thread 2 days ago regarding a 4-year scholarship I had received from the Army. Today the paperwork arrived and it is a 4-year Campus Based. So I'm thinking this type came from the school and not the Cadet Command Board selection...is this correct?

First of all congratulations! :thumb:

This is an interesting turn of events. IIRC your DoDMERB light turned on recently and you mentioned the name of your first choice school showing up a little later.

If the paperwork was signed by the PMS at your unit, then it did indeed come from the unit. Goaliegirl's 3-year AD offer that came in the other day was signed by the PMS for the unit.

Look at the instructions for the return of the form. It will either have the Unit's mail address or CC's return address. That is also an indicator of who sent it out. Goaliegirl's return address was for the unit.

In any case, the only difference in the campus and national 4-year scholarships are that you cannot ask to transfer the campus scholarship next month (CC will not send the confirmation letter asking do you still want to use this scholarship at the selected school or not).

Hope this makes things clearer.
 
Thanks...that does clear things up. The return address for the acceptance form 167 is back to the PMS at the school.

Seems it has all worked out well and just how I was hoping. Now I still need to decide on whether to pursue the SMP path or accept the scholarship. I have a meeting with my reserve recruiter Monday to discuss the dates for training.

My son's application went to the March Board for the first time. There has been no change as of yet can we assume since the board finished meeting and I'm seeing that others have been awarded scholarships that he has not received one? Should we bother to continue checking and is there any way to find out if he is in the running for one at his school. He has been accepted early decision at his first choice school. So he is going whether or not he gets this scholarship. Thanks for the help!:confused:

Not the case at all. We are expecting to hear from the results of the March board beginning around 22March. The last two boards did not start to send out scholarship offers until 2weeks after they were done. I don't believe that anyone has yet been offered a scholarship from the March board. So, yes, keep checking the status board. Also, read the forum postings-you'll know when offers begin to hit. To find out if he is eligible to receive a scholarship at his first choice school-contact the pms-they can give you info on scholarship availability. Good luck. We're still waiting too.
