Hi all,

I'm a high school senior applying for the Marine option NROTC scholarship, my interview on October 16th concluded my package for the first board. So now I'm wondering, about when will I receive the results of the first board? I'd also appreciate it if any of you could look at my application (summarized below), and tell me how competitive I am and what I can improve for the second board.

-273 PFT
-1210 SAT
-3.878 cumulative weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale (4.12 weighted GPA 11th grade).
-JV soccer and cross country.
-Varsity wrestling and track (in track I talked about my leadership positions in the weight room and shot put event, but wasn't captain).
-4 clubs (no leadership positions).
-Went to PT and pool functions at my local recruiting station (Capt wrote this down in my interview).
-Work as a soccer ref, landscaper, and employee at Panera Bread.
-32 hours of community service.
-I know my essays were really good, and my interview was decent at the minimum.

No one knows but your SAT has room to improve. PFT score looks pretty good.

I'd say your numbers look good.
But if you don't get ROTC scholarship you can always join a unit in school & reapply for an on-campus scholarship. Or PLC. Or OCS. Marines get 60% of their officers through PLC/OCS, far more than any other service.
Or try Army. They have the numbers (more slots) due to their size.

You'll find an avenue to a butter bar one way or another.

SAT scores definitely could use work, everything else looks solid; but it's never a guarantee !

We received word today that my son was awarded the scholarship. No email yet so may be they are still rolling through … good luck! You look solid!
