This is more than likely posted somewhere within all these great threads :), but I was hoping I could just get a quick answer if anyone knows the two dates for the upcoming NROTC-MO boards. Thanks in advance.

It has varied in the past, but normally November and February -- although it has shifted at times and can vary with district.

Thank you for the quick reply. For the first board (November) when do they normally notify recipients?

Most districts are doing their first board in early to mid November. Spring boards can be anywhere from February through March. Fall board results last year were published via NETFOCUS the first week of December; the year before it was the second week of December.

My son got a call right before Christmas. There is no hard and fast rule on how one is notified. It varies from district to district. A very general rule: Good news usually comes with a call or personal contact.

A marine recruiter called my parents yesterday, asking if I was interested in enlisting. While they informed him that I was planning on doing NROTC, they asked if I was going to the board that was this weekend. Leads me to believe there is a marine option review board this weekend? I assume there are different boards for the Navy option though.

Here's a little secret about the board dates.....
The OSO is going to be your most reliable source because they have to show up to it.

Hoping one of you can answer this question for me and my DS. My DS applied for the NROTC-MO scholarship. He was with his recruiter yesterday and he told my DS that "he came in 3rd for the scholarship, but didn't get it". I, of course, am having my DS ask more questions - but I was under the understanding that if you don't get chosen in the first boards that you are automatically rolled over and looked at during the 2nd boards (in February ish). Am I understanding it correctly or is he "out" because he "came in 3rd" (which I don't understand that statement). Thanks, as always, for your help.

DaGrubs: if your DS wasn't told he's done, finished, consider PLC or the like, then its fair to assume he will roll over to the next board. If I was to guess, the OSO got two scholarships in his candidate pool out of the first board and your DS was #3. He is "alive" in this process until told he isn't.

That would make sense (about coming in 3rd). My DS talked to his recruiter and he said that the OSO told him (the recruiter) that my DS is competitive for the 2nd board. Does the recruiter need to do anything on his end or does my DS's file sit where it is at until spring board to be looked at again?

I don't know all the intricacies behind the curtain but essentially their is nothing for your DS or his recruiter to do. It will roll over to the next board. Please note that this process can stretch all the way out to May. Your DS has to hang in there and focus on the things he can control (not those he can't).

That is what we are telling him, that he just needs to keep doing what he is doing and try and have a fun senior year. Of course, knowing that as an adult is easier than being told that as a 17 year old :) Do you know in the 2nd board if the OSO candidate pool numbers (let's assume two this time) are the same or do they offer more the 2nd board? I am very greatful to this site and all of you members that are so helpful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My DS heard back from his recruiter and he told him that he will have to redo the PFT for 2nd MO board. Is that normal?

DaGrubs: I have never heard of that before. Could be a new procedure?

Not sure if it is a new procedure, or someone not familiar with how the process works. In either case, my DS needs to stay on top of his PFT stats anyway :)

I've routinely seen Marine option applicants re run the PFT for the spring board. Not uncommon. If anything, it's just an opportunity to improve your score.

Thanks NavyNola. Learn something new every day and glad to see your note. Any chance to improve an applicant's package during the process is a gift!
