Marine Option Scholarship- Major Problem

bjc, here's the link for checking NROTC status:

https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/status_scholarship.aspx

Internet Explorer my say that the website certificate has expired, but don't worry about that. Click continue.

Thanks all for the encouraging words!!

patentesq, Thanks - I have that link and have been checking it...but I thought you said there was a place where you found that they had changed your DS's school choices to include UCLA - can't check that from this page that I'm aware of...

That's weird. DS's status, in addition to personal information, contains the following information:

Your Scholarship Application reflects the following College Choices:

1st College Choice: [School A]
2nd College Choice: [School B]
3rd College Choice: [School C]
4th College Choice: [School D]
4th College Choice: [School E]

Note: College choices are used for placement at a particular NROTC unit only. Placement at a unit does not guarantee you admission to that college. We strongly suggest that you apply to all of your listed choices.

NOTE: You can change your school choices at any point by submitting a request in writing to NSTC (Naval Service Training Command) at:

Your NROTC Scholarship can only be used at a pre-approved NROTC Unit/College.

Wow, this is all my DS's says:

Application has been submitted online. Your electronic application has been received and is being processed ...

Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, your new status will be reflected.

Is your's plain NROTC? Or Marine Option NROTC?

Hey Folks,

Here's what's going on, per my conversation with NSTC a week ago:

If the five schools on your scholarship application are already FULL, then NSTC looks for a comparable school with IN-STATE-TUITION to add to your list of schools.

If you are selected for a scholarship by the Board, NSTC admin needs SOMEWHERE to assign you to. After being assigned to the in-state-tuition school, you can petition NSTC to be placed on the wait list of one of your five original choices, or work with NSTC on yet another choice that is not even on your list nor was added by NSTC>

Think it through for a second. If your five schools are already full, what would you want NSTC admin to do? Toss your file, or research to find a possible acceptable alternative as a place to attach your scholarship?

That would seem odd since Patentesq is in PA and they added UCLA to his list of schools.

Penn State is likely full. I think it is weird that so many schools are full. Must be a budget-related issue.
