Son has MO scholarship and is deciding between Wisconsin and Miami, OH. Any insights on the individual NROTC units would be appreciated. He has been to both and sees positives and negatives to each.

Don't decide based on the unit, decide based on the college, especially if it's awash.

Agree Kinnem. Each year a unit’s personality will change. My TBS room mate was a Wisconsin grad. They used to a lot of training with Marquette which has traditionally had a decent sized unit and produced some great Marines.

Hoops is correct. The culture and personality of each unit changes as the PMO rotate in and out. Over the four years on campus this will, most likely, happen at least once. Selecting the school based on the "feel" of the NROTC units is not the best approach.

Congratulations on your son's scholarship.

I can speak to Wisconsin as a college. Great university. Quite liberal - as in Berkeley liberal but rest of Wisconsin is not. Madison is a great town - big football & hockey tradition (Saturdays at Camp Randall are something to experience). Governor is dead-set on cutting funding to University but don’t know how successful he will be.

Congratulations when the decision is made please add it to the list of “Navy ROTC Class of 2022” thread. There are other Marine options on the list it would be great to see another. You really don’t have to wait you can toy with how you post of the two colleges.
