My ALO told me that the Congressman are given the news about a week before the letters are sent out, and then online is updated about a week after that. So I wouldn't worry about it. :) Congrats!!!

So, I talked to my ALO yesterday, and he told me that they haven't given my application a final review yet. So, will they soon? My ALO told me that I had a "very competitive" final composite score, so I'm assuming that this is a very good thing. So, when do you think I'll hear, if I will at all?

Cap- I imagine these appointment letters go out in what looks like a bell curve. This week is the peek of the curve. Next week it starts tapering off again with the door almost completely closed by the end of the month. We just have to pray for patience.

Ok, thanks guys...I'll try and wait patiently with you guys. however, I was primarily wondering about when they will look over my application...maybe some of you guys out there know.

Hey, considering I finished my application in November, and they finally viewed it 3 weeks ago means that there is absolutely no set date lol. Sorry bro, that's just something that is not at all predictable. But to give you guys something to look forward to- they meet Wednesday afternoons. I remember calling three weeks ago at about 10:30 am Colorado time and they were "currently viewing it as we speak." So if you didn't hear last friday-monday, then perhaps you'll hear this friday-monday.

Thanks man, and congrats...well, they've already viewed it, but haven't given it the "final review"...so, yeah, I'll just have to wait.

Has anyone received any yes/no decisions from the Academy that were postmarked Monday the 16th?

Hi, I am new to posting on the boards, but I have been reading them for a long time. I got the good news last week about USAFA. Can't wait to meet y'all.

No problem Cap, I'm not quite sure what a "final" review is. I thought they looked at it and rated you, then when they select people they grab from the highest rated files and work their way down? It would only make sense.

Add yourself to the list, Anvil. It's on Appointments 2013

Yeah, I know...It was confusing to me, and still is. Basically, my ALO said I have a very good composite score, but they haven't "reviewed my file." He said, once this happened, that I might receive my appointment because of my "good ranking." I don't know, anybody have an opinion?

Maybe they give you an intial "composite score", and if your score is in middle of the pack in terms of the rest of the candidates, they wait until all candidates have been scored (March), and then pick out the highest among the "very competitive".

i dont know about in just march, but I heard that at least 1400 offers are issued by the end of march, and then others are issued as some are declined

Ok, I just skimmed all of my Academy Admissions booklets last night, and I came across a booklet that described the competition level in terms of admission. It said that the "academic composite" score was only 60% of the review, and 30% leadership roles, ALO interview, etc, and 10% extracurricular activities. I may have the percentages wrong, but point is, composite is part of it, and the rest of the categories are scored as well.

It's 60-20-20.

I called admissions today and they said they are sending out another wave of acceptances this week. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.

Yes, your composite is the biggest part, this is why you should keep taking the ACT/SAT (esp. since they superscore) and updating your GPA

Everytime you add something into your file that particular area is re-scored, until the close file date. You do not know if going up .10 in your gpa could be your make or break for the AFA. Same is true for ACT/SAT...10 pts on the SAT could be the difference of acceptance or rejection.

Many things go into the WCS, even the CFA could be the determining factor for an appt, thus, don't rest on your laurels, keep fighting for the appt until the last second

GOOD LUCK

Okay this is wierd, I got a letter from the academy addressed to my parents titled: To the parents of the class of 2013

Does this mean anything? It referrs to me as "appointee". It's confusing that I haven't gotten any other information other than this.
