Mass Appointments

:bump8ls:Does anyone know if rejection, waiting list, prep school, and falcon foundation letters have been sent out yet?

I believe the rejections come out in April...don't give up, all you need is for 1 person to take that other SA and you could be in!

Yea I know not all hope is lost if you get on it. I assume the Academy would send a letter to at least let me know that I am placed on the Waiting List though, right?

I thought I heard from an admissions counselor last week that a yes OR no wave would be sent out by the end of this week so I think rejection letters may be arriving Friday and Saturday.

Yes, my admissions counselor told me that I would be receiving a letter this week stating that I would not be getting an appointment unless somebody else rejected theirs...oh well...

sorry man...
if it makes you feel any better i feel like i'll be getting one of those too

Congrats to all that recieved appts, for those who didn't, don't feel bad - reapply next year!

I received my appointee packet today, postmarked last Thursday.

Now I gotta decide which orientation to go to...

Son just found out he's not getting an appointment either, nor will he be wait listed. 34 ACT, 2060 SAT, 4.15 Weighted GPA, Eagle Scout, Summer Seminar, Marching Band, X-Country, lifeguard...and more! Definitely a bummer for him. Because of his high GPA and test scores, he won't be offered a Prep School slot or Falcon Foundation Scholarship either.

Good luck to the rest of you waiting!

Wow, I guess I have pretty much no shot then. Is there any reason why he was not accepted? Low CFA? Bad Evaluation? Med DQ?

And...How did you find out? I called the admissions office and they wouldn't tell me ANYTHING about my file. They said to just wait for the mail to come. They wouldn't even tell me if my letter had been sent!

How did you find out?

This is scary news.

Very sorry to hear that :(

Keep in mind that with the way the system works, if there's one slot in a district then only one person will get in from that district minus a few exceptions (the national pool included among others). His son must have been in a competitive district where someone else took that slot.

Now as a question if a district has two open slots in a given year and at least two 3Q candidates are applying, is it guaranteed that at least two people from that district will receive appointments?

I have the same problem, so do not feel too bad. Your academics are even a lot better than mine. They stated that my problem was extracurricular and athletic activities. If you have any questions, I would ask your counselor.

good luck

Did you all get rejection letters already? Or how else did you find out about this? I spoke with a counselor who wouldn't tell me anything, and I haven't recieved anything.

There's only one guaranteed appt per congressman/senator. The fifth slot they reserve for "emergencies."

Not necessarily the case--there is a lot of congressional "wiggle room" There are three USAFA appointments in our district this year and our MOC only had one slot available. MOC's and the academies can and do work with other under represented districts when they have a candidate they want to see appointed--ie--blue chip athlete--LOA without a nom, (my son's situation) etc. There is no rhyme or reason to the way things work out. I have given up attempting to figure out the "rules" because sometimes, they just do not apply. Our cadet to be is very, very, fortunate, and he knows it!!!!
