Today, to get the word out to many people, there are many different communication applications that can be used to reach many people in an instance. My question for you grizzled veterans out there...How did you get the word out quickly before cell phones and electronic communications?

Hopefully not dating myself too much, but we used the Mark I, Mod 0 -- Phone Tree. And if on a ship, the 1MC.
 
Phone trees. Every weekend when you signed out you ensured to put an accurate number and address.

Can we swap out “grizzled veterans” with “sagacious ones?” Grizzled seems to be anti-gray-streaked hair, which we just can’t have here on SAF. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👵🏻

Ditto phone tree ashore.

I remember staying in “duty officer bunkrooms” on shore duty. When beepers were used, the tether got longer.
