My daughter was able to attain the max score in 4 of 6 events. Will that help her chances? She narrowly missed the mile and was trying to see if redoing it to max on 5 would even matter. This is all new to us as she is our first going through the process and unsure how much weight is even given for the CFA. She is a 3 sport varsity athlete, has a 31 ACT score and has an unweighted 3.7 GPA.

Congrats! She looks like a good candidate.

It’s pass/fail. Not sure doing a little better gives any additional points towards WPS.

My son was in a similar position. He set the pace for the mile but ran in the snow and missed maxing it by ten seconds. He wanted to retake it - I advised him not to worry about it.

The CFA for USNA is pass/fail. It is always good to do your best and have good scores. However, since the CFA is not superscored (Admissions uses the most recent result), there is a little bit of gamesmanship with CFA retakes. One has to ask themselves if they are confident enough to risk the scores they have on other events to justify a retake predicated on improving one or two events. In my personal opinion, I don't think a full retake to lose a few seconds on the mile justifies going through the whole thing again.
