I was wondering if anyone knew what the flexed arm hang max score is. I have seen many different answers and its between 31s and 39s. I want to know because if its only 31s I will stop the event at this point so I can save a bit of extra energy, if not, of course push through to 39s. If anyone could let me know, that would be very helpful!

Read this USMA CFA guide. No, it’s not USAFA, but it’s the most definitive guide I’ve found with averages and maximums. Notice that there’s no max listed for FAH. Which seems to go with advice we see here often: that one pull-up is worth more than an eternal FAH. In other words, figure out how to do even one pull-up. Or prepare to hang for a long time.

According to to page 20 in the USAFA Instructions to Candidates Class of 2027 the max FAH is 39 seconds but as MidCakePa said one pull-up is worth more than max FAH.

My DD was struggling for doing flex arm or pull-ups. After she got a pull-up-bar hung on her door and practiced it daily within 3 weeks she was able to do 1 pull-up. If you have time give it a try, it definitely works.

Stop worrying about this and do a pull-up. Maxing the FAH isn't really going to change how your application is viewed by any of the SAs. Good luck.
