McHales Navy shrinks some more

Who's left? Chuck Parker? I remember all the knew cadets/ nuggets being called"Chuck" by all the enlisted after Ensign Parker.

McHale's Navy - Real Veterans

Bob Hastings (Lt Carpenter) was a B-29 navigator in 1944-1945.

Joe Flynn (Capt Binghampton) was in the US Army medical corps in WW2.

Tim Conway (Ensign Parker) was in US Army in Korean War, right out of high school.

Ernest Borgnine nee Ermes Effron Borgnino (McHale) served over 10 years in US Navy, including almost all of WW2. Immigrant from Italy, war veteran, GI Bill college grad, Academy Award winner ("Marty", 1955) and Hollywood great ("From Here To Eternity", 1952). American success story.

"Illustrious Brother Borgnine, 33rd Degree" was also a very nice, humble man to meet.

I met him in a masonic lodge once...he made it a point to make sure you knew he was "Brother Ernest" or just "Ernest" and NOT a celebrity.

A fine gent!
