I was medically disqualified from CGA today because of a shrimp allergy that I recently discovered. I have been told that an appeal process could take several months and I am trying to plan my next moves. Are there classes I should take at a local college that would be advantageous if I got in next year? Is there any way to still get in this year? My allergy is considered “moderate” and it doesn’t require the use of an epi-pen or anything. Any advice helps.

If you search the boards, there are a lot of different posts about allergies and passing via either second opinion, other documentation, etc. Who discovered the allergy? Can you get a letter and second opinion?

I got blood and skin tested, which both came back positive (but moderate). I went to a couple different physicians and have called them asking for letters in case I need them.

First off, I am extremely sorry that you’re having to go through this just a week before reporting day. Were you disqualified directly from CGA or from DoDMERB? If DoDMERB, I recommend that you email Larry Mullen and/or post your question to the DoDMERB section of this site. Best of luck

I have been in contact with Mr. Mullen and he has been helpful. Unfortunately CGA disqualified me.

Tfanning7 - I will reply to your email in the morning :wiggle:
