Per the direction of the field force rep., DD reached out to her regional commander to start her medical exam process. She was passed to the "athletes admissions officer" as she is "being evaluated" for a sport.

Can anyone comment on what this means? Is she considered a "recruited athlete"? How, if at all, does the medical exam process differ?
Thank you all for your input.

If the RC passed your DD to the admissions officer responsible for athletes then that is an indication your DD is under consideration by a coach to be put in the recruited athlete category (NCAA rules need to be followed).

This very same thing happened to my DS last year. Midway through the process he was passed off by the RC to the admissions officer in charge of handling recruited athletes. I would warn you though this status can change on a dime. Three months later my DS was handed back to the RC with no explanation other than “you are no longer considered a recruited athlete”. Moral of the story is these things can change so your DD needs to proceed as if she were not recruited simply because the process is the same for all cadet candidates. You still need to be deemed “competitive” and you still need a nomination.

My son ended up receiving his appointment and then walked on to the team he was originally being recruited for. It all worked out for him and the coach.

This is very helpful and thank you.

Just to be clear - the medical exam process is the same and was not delayed by this back/forth ?

Lastly, congrats to your DS and I hope he is making the best of these times.
