After looking up the maximum height to weight ratio for my age, I see that I am about 5 lbs over for the naval academy. When I take my DoDMERB, do I have to be on weight? I’m not too worried about cutting it off(I’m a wrestler lol) but I need to know ASAP because I will likely be receiving my exam in the next 10-15 days

You schedule your exam, so you should know exactly when it is. Personally I would advise my own wrestler to drop that (if you can...both safely and team weight class wise), or at least get closer. But that’s me. I don’t leave things to chance that I’m able to control.

To your point...it’s up to USNA, but a common thing is to receive a requirement to have your body fat checked via a measure of the neck. In fact, this happened to my now MIDN (also a wrestler BTW). He had a condition via a LOA to have his neck measured.

If I was able to cut that weight, I sure would. But again, that’s me. I wouldn’t give them a reason to say no.

USNA may be different but for USCGA your height and weight at DODMERB is not a a disqualifying matter. However you do need to meet requirements by last day of RA notification (for UCGA 15th of April) and at R Day. As Justdoit19 says if you can lose by DODMERB as its only 5lbs then you may as well do it.
